Maintaining a busy schedule while working out can be challenging. There may be a disruption in your workout routine, and you’re wondering what you might miss if you stop exercising.

In fact, the negative consequences of not exercising are numerous. You may want to consider these effects before stopping working out at home or in the gym:

Gaining weight

Exercise helps you control your weight by burning fat. If you stop working out but food intake remains unchanged, your body will store those extra calories, causing gaining weight rapidly. To prevent this, keep track of your food intake and adjust if you cannot exercise.

Loss of lean muscle mass

If you continue to skip workouts regularly, you may lose lean muscle mass. Muscles deteriorate when not used regularly. In fact, once your muscle mass reaches a certain level, it cannot be maintained without further exercise.

A lack of exercise also reduces the oxygen and blood flow to the brain, impairing clear thinking. Concentration and memory may suffer as a result. You may feel the difference if your brain is used to a certain amount of oxygen and blood.
